భగవాన్ రమణులు స్వహస్తాలతో తెలుగులోకి అనువదించిన “ఉపదేశ సారం” ఎందరో ముముక్షువులకు మార్గదర్శకము. అంతర్ముఖులై నివృత్తి మార్గములో ప్రయాణిస్తున్న సాధకులకు అనేక మార్గాలుగా కనిపించే ఉపదేశాల సారాన్ని కరుణామూర్తి రమణ మహర్షి ఉపదేశ సారః అని సంస్కృతంలో 30 లలిత వృత్తాల్లో చెప్పి దానినే తెలుగు లోకి అనుభూతి సారం గా అనువదించారు.

Sri Ramana’s Upadesa Saram providing a ‘modern day’ document of benefit to all spiritual seekers. Upadesa Saram was chosen as the first book to be updated because of its important signifigance and its clear explanation of Ramana Maharishi’s core teachings. The story of Upadesa Saram originates with the famous Tamil poet, Muruganar. Muruganar was composing a poem about a group of ancient ascetics who were performing rituals in the Daruka Forest in order to obtain special powers to fulfill their worldly desires. They believed that Karma Yoga was the highest path towards liberation. Lord Shiva, seeing their ignorance, manifested in Daruka Forest to offer them the right instruction (upadesa) in order to achieve liberation. Once Muruganar reached this point in his poem, he realized that he did not possess the knowledge to explain Lord Shiva’s teaching to the ascetics. Only Muruganar’s guru, Sri Ramana, possessed that knowledge being himself an embodiment of Lord Shiva. Muruganar then prayed to Sri Ramana to reveal the essence of the teachings that he had himself given to the ascetics in Daruka Forest. In response, Sri Ramana produced the Tamil text Upadesa Unidyar, which he then translated into Sanskrit as Upadesa Saram.
